Moon Sand Treasure Kingdom

Moon Sand Treasure Kingdom Review

My daughter is almost 3 years old and she has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. I bought the moon sand castle kit for her 2nd birthday, and she just lit up looking at it. That kit had the inflatable tray/ carry case. She was able to squish the sand, and rake it into the molds using the scoop. She only had use of one hand at that time, but the sand greatly improved her sensory skills. Because she had a limited range of motion there was no sand flying all over the place, but she also couldn't get into it as much as i knew she wanted to.

She has since been able to use both hands together, and likes scooping and dumping the sand on anything. She is in a wheel chair, so i just roll her up to the card table which i have placed a cheap vinyl tablecloth on, and let her go to town. when shes done, any sand that didnt make it in the inflatable container is on the tablecloth(i tuck it around her, in her lap)I just roll up the mat, and dump the sand back in the tray. Alot of other users have been complaining about the mess, and that it doesn't stick together, but i havent had that problem ( i just bought the blue and green moon sand and the moon sand ponies kit for her 3rd birthday, when she opens it, i will let you know if the colored moon sand doesnt stick as well). they say that you shouldn't get it wet, or get soap on it, and she does drool, so i just have to be sure she is wearing a bib and we are free and clear.

Even if you are using the moon sand on the carpet which the box suggest (dumb!!! because you just vaccum up all your money and have to buy more) i would suggest putting down a cheap vinyl tablecloth (dollar store cheap) the cat shredded one of her tablecloths, and i just got another one, but they work great even for busy mobile kids. the moon sand ponies is pink and purple sand with alot of molds, and im sure she will really enjoy it. I hear that the moon sand mixes together and you cant separate the colors, that would bother me but we'll see if she cares. Also you can bake moon sand and keep little models for life. Just thought you should know b/c they show a waterfall in the commercial, and you arent suposed to get the sand wet, so that was after they baked it, that they let water run down the structure. All in all i have no complaints about this kids/ adult toy. I think i enjoy it more than she does. Maybe they should change their marketing age. What adult wouldn't want to play with a portable sandbox during their break at work. hope this helps.

update: I read somewhere that you really can use it in water, and that it repels water without baking it, i guess i just wasn't brave enough, if it says dont mix with water i wont.
